The effect of constriction on cells at the level of the nucleus

by Pierre Caullet

The nucleus of the cell is compressed in different contexts and can have different impact on the cell. In this video is described repair mechanisms following nuclear envelope rupture, and two models in which nucleus compression can lead to different gene activation: the mechanosensitive nucleocytoplasmic shuttling mechanism and the nuclear ruler.

This video was created by Pierre Caullet, a student in the Cell Physics Master at the University of Strasbourg, France.
