Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. In this disease, some of the body's cells grow uncontrollably and spread to other parts of the body. To do that, one of the main strategies of cancer cells is to evade the immune system in charge of destroying abnormal cells. This video explains how cancer cells escape immune detection through the PD-1/PD-L1 axis and the Tumour Microenvironment (TME), and how understanding this can help improve cancer immunotherapies. Watch Marie’s video to learn more about cancer immune escape.
