Microtubules, protein-based filaments, are essential for shaping plant cells by guiding cellulose deposition and reinforcing the cell wall. When plant cells experience mechanical stress, cortical microtubules reorient themselves to strengthen the cell's structure and resist deformation. This adaptive mechanism allows plants to remain strong and flexible and these tiny structures are crucial for plant growth and survival in challenging conditions.
