How does type 2 diabetes (T2D) play a major role in bone fragility? In this video, Lejla Emini describes how an evolutionary conserved signal transduction pathway known as the Wnt/β-catenin pathway could be the missing link to why patients with T2D have increased bone fragility.
Lejla Emini is a PhD student in the Bone Lab of Martina Rauner and Lorenz Hofbauer at Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) in Germany. She is also part of the FIDELIO consortium that primarily focuses on how diabetes affects bone health.
